Suriname Boas

The boa constrictors that originated in the small country of Suriname are regarded as one of the most beautiful localities of boa constrictor.  It is amazing how variable this locality when you consider how small Suriname is compared to other South American countries. Suriname BCC can be blamed for my original addiction to boa constrictors, and I believe only North Brazilian BCC surpass them in natural beauty. Every reptile enthusiast can appreciate the raw beauty of a nicely marked Suriname boa.  The Suriname BCC has still maintained an almost cult like following and rivals even the best of morph projects. Sometimes you just can’t improve on perfection.

Project Goals

Every Suriname in my collection was chosen for a particular trait that I plan on incorporating in my bloodline.  My project’s primary focus is to develop a bloodline that incorporates all of the traits that I love about this race of boa.  I guess you could consider this a designer redtail breeding project, rather than a locality specific project.  The traits I have chosen for my bloodline are round lateral markings with red tail color tracing all the way to the neck, Golden base color, long exaggerated peaks on chocolate/ cinnamon brown connected saddles, long tails 1/3 of the length of the body with  rich red tail coloration bordered in bright ivory, dashed markings between saddle patterns, red and pink blushing along the sides, lightly flecked ventral scales, and a medium overall build. My goal is to create a signature look that is recognizable, that displays the very best of the Suriname race of boa.
